   Q: When was B. Braun Medical Inc. (B. Braun) founded?

A: B. Braun’s U.S. operations were founded in 1957 as Burron Medical Products Inc. in Bethlehem, Pa. as a specialty plastic manufacturer. In 1979, B. Braun Melsungen AG acquired Burron as a wholly-owned subsidiary and changed Burron’s name to B. Braun Medical Inc. in 1992.

A: U.S. based B. Braun Medical Inc. is a member of the B. Braun Group of Companies (collectively “B. Braun”), the 12th largest global medical device manufacturer. B.Braun’s global headquarters is in Melsungen, Germany.

   Q: What products are made by B. Braun?

A: B. Braun is a leading manufacturer of infusion therapy and pain management products that are safe for the patient, the clinician and the environment. B. Braun manufactures IV sets, IV solutions, drug delivery systems, clinical nutrition solutions, IV safety catheters, needle-free IV systems, smart IV pumps, dialysis machines and disposables, and pain control catheters, needles and trays. B. Braun partners with customers to help guide them through the implementation process and provide educational training, support and educational tools to ensure a smooth system transition. 

   Q: What is CAPS?

A: A B. Braun Company, Central Admixture Pharmacy Services, Inc. (“CAPS®”) provides admixture pharmacy services nationwide. CAPS pharmacies compound and locally deliver TPN, Cardioplegia and other compounded sterile preparations to the nation's largest and smallest hospitals, alike. Meeting or exceeding USP Chapter <797> guidelines, CAPS state-licensed and federally registered pharmacies operate 365 days a year. Since 1991, hospital and homecare pharmacies trust CAPS to help them comply with strict state and federal regulatory standard.

CAPS uses state-of-the-art automated compounding technology, electronic ordering and the most comprehensive quality program in the industry to deliver solutions to more than 1,000 customers nationwide.

A: With offices in Center Valley, Pa., Aesculap, Inc. and Aesculap Implant Systems, LLC divisions market, distribute and sell surgical instruments and implants.

One example of how B. Since 1995, Aesculap Academy has contributed to the interdisciplinary communication and dialogue in medicine through a wide range of course offerings.

   Q: Are B. Braun’s products environmentally responsible?

A: More than three decades ago, B. Braun recognized the environmental and patient safety risks posed by products containing PVC and DEHP. As a result, B. Braun is the first medical device manufacturer to remove these harmful substances from many of its products. Today, B. Braun offers the broadest portfolio of environmentally-friendly (green) infusion therapy products, which do not contain PVC and DEHP. To learn about B.    Q: Who at B. Braun can I contact about donations or sponsorships?

A: As a leading healthcare provider, B. Braun may make certain donations to charitable organizations and educational programs to help promote advances and education in healthcare. Charitable contributions will not be considered unless the recipient is a tax-exempt organization, Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. All completed requests will be reviewed under B. Braun’s compliance policies and will follow objective criteria.

Please be advised that B. Braun receives many requests for donations, and may not be able to grant your request.  We wish you the best of success with your fundraising or educational activities.

Grant Request Process:
Please complete the Grant Request Form, following the instructions on the form. You will need to print the completed form and submit it with the supporting documentation outlined below. B.Braun will not be able to consider any incomplete requests.

501 (c)(3) designation letter
Statement of charitable mission
Description of fundraising activity and levels of sponsorship

For Educational Sponsorship Requests:

Overview and agenda of educational program
Certificate of CME accreditation and Letter of Agreement under ACCME guidelines, if applicable

The review process may take up to four weeks once the completed grant request packet is received. We cannot guarantee approval of your request.
