Connecting Safety and Drug Administration: B. Braun Announces Availability of Modified Binary Connector

B. Braun’s addEASE® BC2000 for exclusive use with PAB® IV Container provides ease of use for pharmacy technicians

Bethlehem, PA – March 1, 2012 – B. Braun Medical Inc. (B. Braun) announced the introduction of its modified 20mm addEASE® BC2000 Binary Connector to bring added efficiency and easy-to-use to pharmacy technicians responsible for activating and administering drug admixtures.  The stand alone drug admixture device designed for exclusive use with B. Braun’s PAB® Partial Additive Bags, is designed with a 17 gauge steel cannula spike which allows pharmacy technicians to assemble the binary connector with less force. Ray Hitti, Product Manager, Pharmacy Admixture Devices for B. Braun Medical Inc. said that a technician assembling dozens of binary connectors per day will discover that addEASE® BC2000 provides an improvement in ease of use, productivity, safety and cost.”  “Previous designs required more connection force which can ultimately cost time, money and increase waste.”

Hitti adds that pharmacy technicians and administrators will benefit from the 10 week shelf life for B. Braun’s addEASE® BC2000 when connected to PAB® IV containers prior to activation. The BC2000 can be assembled in an ISO class 5 environment.  The combination of addEASE® BC2000’s DEHP-free design and clear cap identifier provides for a safe, accurate means of administering medication.
