B. Braun Launches Flexima™ 3S Ostomy Appliances in U.S. and Canada

Decades of ostomy product experience offered for the first time in these key markets

BETHLEHEM, PA – May 18, 2016 – Building on the expertise of the B. Braun Group of Companies around the world, B. Braun Medical Inc. is introducing its Flexima™ 3S Ostomy Appliances line into the North American market.

The B. Braun Group of Companies has manufactured and sold ostomy products internationally for more than 40 years. “We’re very excited to bring this long heritage, experience and reputation in high quality ostomy appliances to the U.S. and Canada,” said Jeff Straton, Director of New Business Development at B. Braun Medical.

“Our unique product design – with its distinctive coupling mechanism, multiple base plate options, guiding system, and non-woven, soft material – is intended to give individuals an alternative to what’s on the market today,” he said. Additionally, B. Braun’s ostomy products are not made with natural rubber latex or PVC.

B. Braun’s “key concept” is designed to help ostomates easily place and lock the Flexima 3S two-piece system. A guiding tab – offered only by B. Braun – is designed to provide individuals with a tactile feel and audible click for confidence that their pouch is secure without a visual inspection. Patients also have the flexibility of three tab slot positions to orient their pouch based on preference and fit to their body type and clothing.

B. Braun Medical offers three choices of base plates designed for security with hydrocolloid or acrylic borders: Flat for standard wear, Convex for flush or retracted stomas, and Extended Wear for additional security – available in various sizes in pre-cut and cut-to-fit. “The Flexima 3S also incorporates a floating flange, designed to help minimize pressure on the abdomen at application,” Straton said.
