B. Braun Medical's Infusomat® Space Pump Completes New EMR System Integration

B. Braun Medical Inc. has successfully completed systems integration of its large-volume Infusomat® Space Pump with Epic’s integrated EMR system

BETHLEHEM, PA – August 17, 2016 – B. Braun Medical Inc. has successfully completed systems integration of its large-volume Infusomat® Space Pump with Epic’s integrated EMR system.

B. Braun used Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) standard communication protocols and transactions to support the integration, and worked with Epic to test and validate the AutoProgramming and AutoDocumentation functionality of B. Braun’s AutoComplete® feature. Over the next several months, B. Braun will implement the integration with its Infusomat Space pump customers.

IHE sponsors an initiative by the healthcare industry to improve the way computer systems share information. B. Braun is a charter member of IHE and was one of the first to provide, wireless integrated technology system for IV pump infusion that is IHE certified for all three AutoComplete integration functions – AutoProgramming, AutoDocumentation, and AutoNotification.

“Through B. Braun’s Infusomat pump and DoseTrac® Infusion Management Software integration with Epic, the systems can effectively share infusion data that will help to enhance clinician workflows, and improve patient safety and care,” said Mike Golebiowski, Vice President of Marketing, Automation and Infusion Systems at B. Braun Medical.

B. Braun’s Infusomat pump is the first step to a wireless, integrated technology system that ultimately can help clinicians achieve 100% drug library compliance, minimize medication errors and reduce alarm and alerts, Golebiowski said. Its compact and intuitive design allows for flexibility and easy transport within a healthcare facility, promoting efficiencies in hospital or outpatient settings.
