B. Braun to Showcase Xperius® Ultrasound System at ASA New System Part of Reimagining Regional Anesthesia by B. Braun and Philips

ASA 2017

BETHLEHEM, PA – August 31, 2017  – B. Braun Medical Inc. will present the new Xperius® ultrasound system — designed to make regional anesthesia easier to perform and more effective — at the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) meeting, Oct. 21-23 in Boston.

Xperius was designed to support current and future needs in ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia at the point of care, representing a new approach to regional anesthesia and pain management. It is the first product resulting from a strategic alliance between B. Braun Melsungen AG and Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA), an industry leader in image-guided therapy solutions.

"B. Braun and Philips formed a multi-year strategic alliance to leverage the companies' combined deep clinical expertise and R&D capabilities, as well as sales and service channels," said Peter McGregor, Director of Marketing, Pain Control at B. Braun Medical. "The alliance's solutions support anesthesiologists and hospitals in the critical area of regional anesthesia, including needle visualization and guidance, optimized procedure workflow, and resource planning."

Xperius is designed to be mobile and fit seamlessly into the care area. Its anatomical imaging complements B. Braun’s regional block needle portfolio and addresses the continued need for enhanced needle visualization and guidance. Xperius’ fully articulating arm allows easy adjustments of the ultrasound monitor position and screen angle for ergonomic use and an unobstructed view of the screen. Conference attendees will be able to see a demonstration of the Xperius ultrasound system’s functionality at B. Braun’s booth #3126 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.

Xperius complements B. Braun’s innovative products for ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia, which include the recently launched peripheral nerve block portfolio comprised of Stimuplex® Ultra 360® and Contiplex® Ultra 360®. Xperius also is designed to support future innovations for needle visualization and guidance.

Visitors to B. Braun’s booth #3126 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center will be able to see the Stimuplex and Ultraplex 360 needles, including the new Stimuplex Ultra 360 and Contiplex Ultra 360. The regional block needle portfolio includes stimulating, non-stimulating and echogenic single shot and continuous needles to match clinical preferences.
