B. Braun Products That Support Successful Peripheral Intravenous Access To Be Showcased at INS Annual Meeting and Exhibition

BETHLEHEM, PA – May 15, 2018 — B. Braun Medical Inc. will showcase its portfolio of innovative products that support successful peripheral intravenous (PIV) access in booth #417 at the Infusion Nurses Society (INS) Annual Meeting and Exhibition from May 19-22 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Additionally, at the meeting, B. Braun will sponsor an Exhibitor Theater Presentation on incorporating technology for vessel selection and inserting PIV catheters. “A Single Peripheral Catheter: Is It Possible?” will be presented at 12:40 p.m. on May 19 in Huntington Convention Center by Lynn Hadaway, M.Ed., RN-BC, CRNI, Clinical Consultant and President, Lynn Hadaway Associates. The presentation will identify new technologies to integrate into the process for the assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of inserting PIV catheters. Hadaway will discuss peripheral vein preservation and choosing the most appropriate vascular access device with the greatest possibility of reaching the end of therapy with the least number of procedures. No registration is needed for the presentation.

“B. Braun is committed to the exchange of information and knowledge with nurses and other clinicians to help achieve success in PIV placement and stabilization,” said Tom Sutton, Vice President, Medical Device and Pharmaceutical Systems at B. Braun. “Improved site selection and catheter stabilization can lead to improved first stick success and reduced complications for better patient satisfaction and outcomes.”

At INS, B. Braun will feature these products that support PIV success:

·       VeinViewer® by Christie Medical Holdings, Inc. is a near-infrared vein visualization product designed to provide clinicians with an accurate image of patient veins. VeinViewer is designed to help improve first stick success and reduce the time needed to start a peripheral IV. It also is designed to help reduce PICC lines placed due to failed PIV access.

·       Introcan Safety® Family of PIV Catheters includes the Introcan Safety, Introcan Safety 3, and the new Deep Access IV Catheters. The Deep Access IV Catheters are designed to access deeper veins for difficult access patients with damaged, not visible or palpable superficial veins, as well as reduce the risk of complications associated with accessing these types of veins. The Deep Access IV Catheters are made of polyurethane and are available in four longer-length configurations: 18GA x 2.5”, 20GA x 2.5”, 22GA x 2.5”, and 24GA x 1.25”.

·       The new Surecan™ Safety II Port Access Needle is high-pressure resistant, non-coring1, and safety-engineered. Surecan Safety II is designed to reduce the risk of needlestick injuries, enhance the clinician experience, and be easy to use.

·       STEADYCare™ extension set with the Wedge™ catheter stabilizer is designed to provide stabilization to in-dwelling PIV catheters and help reduce catheter-related complications.

·       Ster-ASSIST™ sterile peripheral IV catheter insertion kit supports the use of ultrasound-guided PIV insertions and encourages best practice by containing the components required to perform a safe, sterile technique.
