Simplicity Meets Safety
OnGuard® Closed System Transfer Device (CSTD) is as simple to use as it is safe to use—designed to help protect those who work with and around hazardous drugs every day. Whether you’re a healthcare professional or a patient.
Pharmacists
Tested in the Real World
Because you work with hazardous drugs in your day-to-day compounding, OnGuard CSTD is tested with them.
Currently, CSTDs generally follow one of two design concepts: using either a physical barrier or an air-cleaning technology to prevent the escape of hazardous drugs into the work environment. NIOSH is currently working on finalizing a unified performance test protocol applicable to both of these designs that is to be issued publicly in the Federal Register. For more information, see https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/topics/hazdrug/CSTD.html.
In fact, as a market leader in CSTD air-cleaning technology, OnGuard is the only CSTD that tests for vapor containment using some of the most commonly used chemotherapy drugs, including:
- 5-Fluorouracil
- Cyclophosphamide
- Carbopolatin
- Doxyrubin-HCL
- Etoposide
Secure with a Click
An audible “click” lets you know the connection is secure during the handling of hazarous drugs.
Sealed for Safety
OnGuard CSTD is tested and proven to contain real hazardous drug vapors. Designed to provide simple, safe, easy-to-use protection.
Nurses
Your Safety Matters, Too
Like you, we believe that patient safety is critical. But your safety is important, too. That’s why there’s OnGuard. The CSTD designed to keep both nurses and their patients safe.
Safety You Can Hear
Only OnGuard CSTD locks into place with an audible “click” during the handling of hazardous drugs.
Added Layers of Protection
Because you put yourself last, we put your safety first. With additional measures and features to ensure you’re protected, including an activated charcoal drug-binding matrix which contains drug vapors and is designed to ensure that no drug vapors escape the drug vial.
Health Systems
Less Waste, More Efficiency
The majority of hazardous drug compounding can be done with just three SKUs—reducing waste and confusion and helping to make implementations easy.
Maximize Your Workspace
No proprietary components are required. The system works with off the shelf syringes, so there’s no need to stock new syringes.
Meet the USP <800> Requirements
OnGuard meets the NIOSH, ASHP and ONS definitions of a CSTD, is cleared by the FDA under the ONB Product Code, and will help healthcare institutions meet USP <800> requirements.
