Resource conservation
Many natural resources are finite elements in nature, so we take stock of our impact in several areas including water usage and waste recycling. As a company, we practice all three parts of the “reduce, reuse and recycle” mantra, and it’s reflected in many of our decisions, operations and products. Our manufacturing sites in Pennsylvania and California are both certified as landfill free.
B. Braun recycles everything from scrap plastic and cans to old cardboard and glass. In 2022 alone, the company recycled more than 5,500 metric tons of industrial and facility waste in the U.S.1 We continuously look for opportunities where we can recycle or use biodegradable materials.
Water is a critical substance at many of our manufacturing facilities, and we take steps to ensure that we are thoughtful and responsible when it comes to our use of water resources. In particular, we put an emphasis on recycling and minimizing water requirements in our processes.
When it comes to resource conservation, we look at some of the problems that exist and work to create unique solutions. In 2022, B. Braun and Lehigh Valley Health Network secured a state grant to research ways to recycle non-hazardous plastic waste at LVHN Cedar Crest Hospital and the company's manufacturing plant in Hanover Township, Pa.
